In 2011, Darcy broke her ankle, got a master’s degree, and sold a mountain bike to purchase a video camera. She quickly taught herself how to use it and combined her passion of storytelling with all the visual language theory she had read while laid up on crutches for 4 months. Since then, she has written, shot, and directed films, commercials, and music videos in over 20 countries for clients ranging from Audi to Patagonia to Jive Records.
Known internationally from her past career as a professional mountain biker, she has been featured in hundreds of publications worldwide including Rolling Stone and Outside. Her latest feature film, “The Moment”, recounts the unlikely birth of one of the most dangerous sports ever imagined: freeride mountain biking (circle back to broken ankle story above).
